30 Days, 30 Inks: Day 29
The Ink
Day 29: KWZ Honey
I’d heard about this ink before and how it reportedly had a sweet, vanilla-ish scent. When I bought a bottle of it, I ended up being disappointed that it didn’t look more like the warm, yellow-brown shade of Herbin Ambre de Birmanie, or day 25’s Jacques Herbin Ambre de Baltique. I was on the lookout for more yellows like that, and “honey” implied that shade to me. Instead, Honey is more brown than yellow, and not warm to my eye. I’m not sure if you could call it “cool”, but that’s my impression.
I think I could get used to this brown after using it a while, especially during the fall season when it’s more appropriate. I just need to realize it’s not the amber, warm caramel color I was expecting. And the scent is pleasant to me, not cloying, but I haven’t written many pages with it, so I don’t know if it kind of builds up, or what.
The Quote
“The trick is not caring what EVERYBODY thinks of you and just caring about what the RIGHT people think of you.”
- Brian Michael Bendis
Insightful, but hard to follow, especially for me, raised to care about what people think, and sort of be a people-pleaser. I somewhat envy people who really don’t care about what people think of them because they have a freedom to do what they want without getting tripped up by thoughts of embarrassment, or not doing what is “appropriate” to one’s station in society, blah, blah, blah. Again, as long as you’re not hurting others or yourself, it seems healthy to live without the burden of other people’s trollish opinions about your work and your life so that you can fulfill your goals, whatever they are. If you can gather a trusted circle of confidants around you who care about your well-being, help you thrive, and call you out when necessary, then it doesn’t matter what those outside that group say. Find your people and don’t worry about the rest.
