Diamine Inkvent 2023, Day 8
The Ink
Day 8: Jacaranda - Standard
Jacaranda is a kind of flowering plant, many of which have purple flowers like today’s ink. This is a translucent, light-to-medium violet shade with blue and pink tones.
Finally after being kind of meh on a lot of the initial inks, except for Early Dusk, Jacaranda is a lovely blurplish color I like unconditionally! Of course, since purple is my favorite color, this automatically appeals, but it is even nicer because of its shading. It has that lovely watercolor quality when swatched on Tomoe River paper.
Of course, since I have many purple inks, I thought that I already had an ink that matches this one, since it looked familiar. But none of my ink samples are an exact match.
At first I thought Troublemaker Foxglove was a good match, but it’s more on the blue side. It does have similar tones and shading, though. Vinta Maskara is even more on the bluer side, with lighter, less saturated pink tones.
My sample of Vinta Salimbay, a shimmer ink, looks the closest, but it’s still on the blue side. OT: And weirdly its shimmer has gone a bit clumpy. 😒
The Quote
Today’s quote is from Parks and Rec, “Citizen Knope”:
Ron: Every year, I give Leslie the same present I give everyone: a crisp $20 bill. And every year she gets me something thoughtful and personal. It makes me furious.
On Midori MD paper, Jacaranda is slightly bluer that the swatch on Tomoe River. I decided to dip a fountain pen into the ink to write out this quote more properly. The ink does seem on the lighter side. I’ll have to see how it does in a wetter-writing pen, if that helps the saturation on the page.
