Picture a Day: Feb 15

This is another interesting experiment. Without getting into too much detail, I started out with a picture of a tree I took recently and got this result which reminds me of a painting from Richard Mayhew (not that I would say this is as good or as considered as his work, just that this reminds me of a painting of his I’ve seen at the de Young Museum):

This is a screenshot from the de Young Museum site about this painting. Below is a picture I took a few years ago at the first Bouquets to Art exhibit I attended and where I first learned about Richard Mayhew.

Bouquets to Art is a cool yearly exhibit where floral artists create displays that mimic or pay homage to the works of art at the de Young. The first year I went was particularly good, but the second time we went (which was a couple years later), the bouquets weren’t as good. Hopefully the next time we go the exhibits are more elaborate and evocative like the first one we went.

Anyway, given my experimental image at the top of the post, I might play around with this method again.
