Picture(s) a Day: Feb 8

A few days ago I got a new toy: a phone-sized e-ink tablet called the Onyx BOOX Palma. I like my color e-ink tablet, the Onyx Nova 3 Color, but I was intrigued by a phone-sized e-ink reader that could theoretically be easier to hold for long periods of time, particularly while reading in bed.

It’s somewhat hard to see here, but the back has a “raw paper”-like texture that kind of makes it easier to hold. The camera “bump” is a piece of frosted glass or plastic, which is a nice contrast to the “rough” texture of the back.

The BOOX Palma has a high-DPI, monochrome e-ink display to show off graphics well.

A useful feature is setting the idle lock screen to a clock display, or a calendar. You can also pick different included images, or your own.

I’ll be writing more about this after I’ve had time to use it, but for now I thought this would make a good picture of the day.
