Picture(s) a Day: Jan 20
Well, today’s pictures aren’t ones I took. They’re screenshots from Pokémon GO because today was Porygon community day and my goal was to get at least one shiny Porygon. My husband caught a shiny Porygon first and showed me that it’s purple and blue instead of the normal red and aqua green, which made me even more determined to get at least one shiny.
It was raining today, so I really didn’t want to go out, but we had to run errands anyway. So we drove to a nearby park where I know the pokestops are kind of OP for spawns during community days, and luckily it was not fully raining when we drove over. Even more luckily, I caught 4 shiny Porygons in the short time we were there (in the drizzle), so I could at least have one shiny version of each evolution, w00t! Porygon is one of my favorites, so I really wanted to catch a shiny version. (I was not as lucky during the community day for another of my favorites, Wooper.)
I’m not as a big of a fan of Porygon’s evolutions, Porygon2 and Porygon-Z because they lose the polygonal shape of the original. But I went ahead and evolved to them anyway.
I mean, they look cute, but Porygon is even cuter.
Also, while driving back from errands, I caught a couple random shinies, one after the other!
Pokémon GO is starting to feel like a grind these days when I’m not going out for walks regularly thanks to the weather and early sunsets (I mean, even when I was getting out more, it was still a grind), but it does feel fun again on community days for my favorite Pokémon. But I wish Niantic would work on the quality of life updates that players have been clamoring for. That way, on days that special events aren’t happening, it isn’t as much of a slog. However, history has shown that for some reason a lot of this feedback doesn’t result in meaningful changes, so I’m not holding my breath. Thanks for shinies, though. Can you do Staryu or Corsola next? 🤞
