Another day of not much happening, so I busted out my last pack of expired Artistic TZ Polaroid film to experiment with cat photos.

This is a ghostly image of Pixel since he was in a darkened bedroom and somewhat backlit by the yard lights. Instead of this being a straight scan with little editing, I did some color correction on the scan and then a bit more in post. The imperfections of the expired film are very strong here. I don’t mind the weird color or the incomplete film paste distribution, but the weird bubbles all over the exposure are obscuring Pixel’s face. Annoying. 😕

This is a better exposure of Sprite in the couch in a properly lit room. He looks like I felt today. 😒

P.S. Let me say again how much happier I am using Silverfast scanning software. Its controls, while a bit complicated looking, are decently intuitive and help me dial in the results I want. And the scanning process itself seems much faster than VueScan’s scanning ever was. I no longer dread using my old flatbed scanner because the whole process feels so much better now. Phew.
