30 Days, 30 Inks: Day 6
Day 6: Jacques Herbin Poussière de Lune
“The manifesto is this: Draw the art you want to see, start the business you want to run, play the music you want to hear, write the books you want to read, build the products you want to use — do the work you want to see done.” - Austin Kleon, Steal Like an Artist
Jacques Herbin inks are pretty nice. I only have a small number of them, but they’re relatively well-behaved and have great color depth. I think I bought Poussière de Lune along with a pen I bought from Atlas Stationers (and subsequently exchanged because I didn’t like its metal section). Such a great color…that I realized is essentially the same as Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Bordeaux (day 2’s entry)! 😮 Here’s a picture I retook in the same lighting as the pic above:
If you sense any difference in the colors, it may be down to the photo editing, as in real life, looking at the pages side by side, the colors look identical to me.
I did not realize this at all until I wrote today’s entry. 😅 I’ll still buy a bottle of the R&K ink because of 2 reasons: a) it definitely flows wetter than the Herbin ink, as you can tell in the difference of line widths in the pictures. I used the same pen. And b) I think the R&K inks are permanent, or at least water resistant. But knowing the Herbin ink is the same color, I can wait on getting the R&K bottle.
