Finally!

On Saturday I finally got the Fuji X-Pro3 body that I've been pining for for a long while now… I actually wanted a Fuji X-Pro1 since I saw it at CES in 2012.

These are iPhone 4 photos! 😮

I even have a brochure for the X-Pro1. 🙂 I can’t remember why I never bought the X-Pro1…perhaps price when considering other options?

My X-T1 needed an upgrade, so I finally decided to go for the X-Pro3 as a birthday present this year. However, due to all the chip and electronics shortages, most places were backordered. Best Buy happened to have the black ones in stock, so despite my skepticism that they actually had any ready to ship, I placed the order and received it earlier this weekend. W00t!

Here it is with one of my older Nikon lenses attached:

Most people are using small primes with the X-Pro3, but I'm planning on using all of my Fuji and Nikon lenses with it, so… 🤷‍♀️

The big thing that's different is the lack of a conventional screen on the back. I didn’t realize how much I use the rear screen of my other cameras, not only for framing pictures sometimes, but also for adjusting settings. Need to get used to doing that with the EVF or flipping the rear screen open.

I haven’t had a chance to get out and properly capture images with the camera out and about, but here are a few test shots from home (click/tap for the full views), all taken with the Vivitar macro lens.

Fuji really has their hooks in me! But I'm happy to be a repeat customer. I love their cameras. I was worried with the arrival of the Nikon Z fc that maybe I should’ve considered it, but I don't think it competes with the X-Pro3. They both have the retro styling and manual controls, but Fuji's film simulations can’t be beat. And the hybrid viewfinder was another big draw for me (though we'll see whether I use the OVF as much as I thought, given that a lot of my lenses won’t necessarily be “compatible” with the dimensions of the OVF…).

I love my GFX50s, but sometimes you want a smaller camera… That thing is a beast. Plus, I actually built up a nice library of X-mount lenses in addition to using my Nikon lenses adapted. I wanted an updated sensor and body to use with my Fuji lenses, even though the X-T1 still performs decently.

Anyway! I want to plan more photo trips… I've been cooped up so long, I want to get back out there, even though the spectre of the Delta variant lingers. I'll continue to take precautions, even though I’m fully vaccinated. 😷
