The Ink

Day 16: Merry & Bright - Shimmer

Merry & Bright is another ink, well described by its name. It’s a bright, kelly green with green-gold or champagne gold shimmer.

I’m a bit of a broken record about not liking green inks, but I actually cannot say that anymore. I have quite a few greenish inks that I like now, and really it’s a matter of what shades of green I prefer vs not. This one I really like because the combo with the shimmer reminds me a lot of Marvel Loki’s colors.

This ink had some weird flow issues on my dip pen nib, which is why some spots look patchy and were written over to make darker.

Total off-topic comment: I loved the Loki TV series! So good.

I really had no comparable green inks. Appletini from last year’s Inkvent is the closest, but it’s way too yellow and seems more transparent.

A long time ago I got a sample of Ferris Wheel Press Morningside Mint, which I didn’t like at all when I got it, but now after swatching it again, I do like its watercolor-like aqua shade. No match at all for Merry & Bright, though.

I really like Herbin Vert Atlantide, and its combo of green ink and shimmer bears the tiniest relationship to Merry & Bright, but this green is more gray-green, and the shimmer is silver. So, not alike at all. 😝

The Quote

Today’s scene is from Mythic Quest’s Christmas episode, “The 12 Hours of Christmas”.

Rachel: Why are you so cheery?

Brad: Oh, uh, I don’t know. I just love Christmas. It’s the one time of the year when everyone expresses their love financially. It’s the high holy day of capitalism.

Rachel: Mmm. Now that’s gross.

This quote kinda fits well with Michael Scott’s quote from Inkvent day 4. 😆
