The Ink
Day 21: Tranquility - Chameleon
Tranquility is a bright, shading violet with gold-green chameleon shimmer. Someone on IG mentioned this seems like the same chameleon shimmer in as in Astral. I agree.
This was a lovely change from yesterday’s disappointing black ink. Spoiler alert: I immediately put it in a pen. 🙂
I prefer blue-leaning purples and violets, but this one is very pretty. And not surprisingly, I have several inks to share for the comparison swatches.
Last year’s Inkvent had a magenta ink, Jingle Berry. But it’s too pink. It reminds me a bit of Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo, which is also too pink compared to Tranquility.
Something closer is Robert Oster Mysterium, a bright violet. It might be slightly blue-tinged to be a complete match, though.
Herbin Larmes de Cassis is a pretty good match for the lighter parts of Tranquility’s swatch.
I added this Nahvalur Explorer ink, Orchid Flower, but it is leaning back towards too pink, and has a bit of a “dirty” shade to it (which is why I don’t really use it, besides being too pink for me).
As an aside, my sample of Pelikan Edelstein Rose Quartz also has this weird “dirty water” look to it when I first lay down ink in a swatch. When it dries, it dries to a light pink, but that shady, dirty tone still remains on the edges. I’m not sure what it is about some pink inks that have this weird icky undertone, but that doesn’t help endear them to me. 😜
On the other hand, I love Private Reserve Arabian Rose. This ink, along with the last comparison ink, matches the darker shading parts of the Tranquility swatch more.
Finally, Herbin Poussière de Lune, is another dark purple/violet-rose that matches the darker shading bits of Tranquility. I’d prefer if Tranquility were darker overall, but I guess I can influence how it shows up on the page by putting the ink in a wetter, fine nib.
The Quote
Today’s scene was pulled from Parks and Rec, “Citizen Knope”. Ben just interviewed with an accounting firm and is leaving the office. (It’s hilariously awkward and dorky; I recommend seeking out a video clip of this.)

Barney: * bursts out laughing *
Ben: Oh, you like that one, huh?
Barney: * still laughing * We do not get a lot of humor here, but when we do, it’s wonderful!
