Diamine Inkvent 2023, Day 23
The Ink
Day 23: Fireside Snug - Standard
Fireside Snug is a warm, somewhat translucent, orange with brown tones and brown shading where the ink pools.
Orange is one of those colors that aren’t my preference for inks. But this past fall I started to open my mind to fall-like colors, so some oranges are alright to me now. 🙂 I like Fireside Snug because the brown tones do make it look more like fiery shades vs. a straight orange.
Last year’s Inkvent had a bright, clear orange ink, Flame:
Since it doesn’t really have the browner tones of Fireside Snug, this one doesn’t appeal as much, but I like that it has some shading.
The non-shimmer version of Bucks Fizz (or more properly, Buck’s Fizz) from day 6 of this year’s Inkvent has an orange shade, leaning yellow.
The ink that really reminded me of Fireside Snug is Diamine Autumn Oak, one of the fall inks I used this season. At first glance, it doesn’t look like Autumn Oak has any of the brown tones that is apparent in Fireside Snug.
But I still have Autumn Oak in one of my currently inked pens, an older Pilot Elite. The ink “matures” into a browner orange, and it amused me because it reminded me of orange-red leaves turning brown as the season progressed.
I wonder if Fireside Snug will also get browner as it concentrates in a pen over time?
Dominant Industry Maple was another “fall” ink I used this season. It is more on the reddish side of an orange shade.
Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu-Gaki is a bright, clear orange-red, modeled after the color of winter persimmon fruits.
Finally, I have Diamine Gerbera from their flowers series. It is a pretty dense-looking orange-red that matches its namesake very well.
I have a surprising number of orange inks, considering it is not a preferred color! They snuck in via ink sets, heh.
