30 Days, 30 Inks: Day 11

Dang the white balance challenges with cream colored paper…but I had to adjust colors to bring out the greenish tones in the ink

The Ink

Day 11: Van Dieman’s Russian Blue

This is from Van Dieman’s feline inks series. I got this and a bottle of Bengal Tiger Blaze from the SF Pen Show last month. I love gray cats with round faces, so I had to get this one. 😺 Also, the swatch they had for this ink showed that it was a nice dusky blue-gray with some light green undertones, so it was right up my alley. I haven’t used the ink much yet, but once I have a refill a currently inked pen, I foresee using this one to balance out the more warm, fall colors that I’ll probably gradually start building into my currently inked pens.

The Quote

Do good work and share it with people.

It’s a two-step process. Step one, “do good work,” is incredibly hard. There are no shortcuts. Make stuff every day. Know you’re gonna suck for a while. Fail. Get better.

Yup, this is something I struggle with, making stuff every day. This is why I try to take on these 30-day challenges, because it gives me a theme and motivation to make something every day.

I am finding it very satisfying to flip through the pages of my Traveler’s notebook and seeing page after page of the snippets and ink swatches I’ve made. And I thank you who are visiting my blog to see what ink is coming up next in the series! I’m happy to share my dusky ink library with you all. 🙂
