30 Days, 30 Inks: Day 16
The Ink
Day 16: Rohrer & Klingner Salix
I ordered this ink sample along with R&K Alt-Bordeaux which I really love. I was lukewarm on Salix when I tried it in one of my pens because it didn’t quite have the “kick” that I perceived Alt-Bordeaux to have. However, seeing it in this 30 inks entry from a long blade nib, I am liking it more, thanks to the visible shading. I’ll have to ink up one of my long blade or other “interesting” nibs to see how I like it compared to a regular (usually medium) nib.
The Quote
“Be regular and orderly in your life, so that you may be violent and original in your work.”
- Gustave Flaubert
I have written this quote down before, in my commonplace book (another insert in my passport-sized Traveler’s Notebook). I also wrote the original French wording for reference. I have the “regular and orderly” part down, but not the “violent and original” work part! 😅 I mean, at least not the “violent” part. That part kind of evokes an artist vigorously throwing paint against a canvas or something, not really what I do.
However, I do have some original photography worth tooting my own horn about:
For a while now I’ve been thinking about putting a book of my photography together, but haven’t gotten too much traction on the project. I should take the same approach as how I’m doing the “30 inks” series and do one small part of the book project every day. Maybe calling myself out in public will give me the kick in the butt I need to get going on it!
