30 Days, 30 Inks: Day 8
The Ink
Day 8: Inkvent 2022 (Green), Diamine Alpine
When I think of dusky inks, I initially was only thinking of standard inks that, if they had any other properties, would primarily be shading, not sheen or shimmer. However, I realized that there could be inks with a dusky base color and other properties, like shimmer (I’m actually not sure if there could be any sheening inks with a dusky color; they tend to have pretty bold base colors, AFAIK). So I expanded my search in my ink library and thought that Diamine Alpine could be considered a dusky shimmer ink. The base green has a dusky quality to my eye. And even though I am not a fan of green inks (or green in general), I don’t mind shades like this. The added silver shimmer makes it even more interesting and holiday-related.
What do you think? Does this count as a dusky ink in your definition?
The Quote
Practice productive procrastination.
“Avoiding work is the way to focus my mind.” - Maira Kalman
When I was a teenager, my mom knew that I was avoiding doing some kind of schoolwork if I decided to clean my room. 😆 These days, I kinda do that — start cleaning my desk, my office, do little chores around the house, if I’m avoiding other work I really don’t want to do. Old habits die hard.
But yeah, sometimes if I would do something “mindless” or boring (taking a shower would count also), I’d get creative ideas for something, whether it was related to the work I was procrastinating about, or not. I often do not pull out my phone while waiting in line at the store and start just staring into space, thinking about whatever. I do think that with all of the information and entertainment available to us, we sometimes don’t know how to turn it all off and be bored to let creative ideas in and give our brains a rest from all the stimulation. Taking a walk would be an even more effective combo with letting yourself be bored for encouraging creative thoughts.
